About the Artist
Prairie Desjarlais is a Canadian artist who creates unique pieces of work by combining her Cree Metis roots, with her Mennonite, Prairie-girl background.

Prairie Desjarlais -
My inspiration comes without a doubt from my crazy family - That goes without saying.
But, I have to admit that influences I had as a child, seem to have come together in my adult years. Warm memories of feathers bought at rodeos, Native headbands mom bought me to remember my culture, the smell of leather, the peaceful Christian prairie town I was so fortunate to live in and unique beaded chokers my Metis father occasionally wore. (Authentic bone I'm sure)
This, and the importance of passing on all parts of what make us who we are to my 3 awesome children.
These things all seem to come together in my pieces.
